Bake with Jack – Bread Every Day
Book tip of the month is back! It used to share a new book tip every month before I left for Australia. As I didn’t buy any books while I was traveling (or well maybe 1 e-book) I stopped posting it as I didn’t want to promote something I hadn’t tried myself. But I’ve been back for a good while now and have bought quite a few books, both digital and actual paper, and am so excited to share them with you all. First one up is the most recent book I bought: Bake with Jack – Bread every day.
I signed up to Jack’s newsletter & YouTube channel during the pandemic and was so excited to hear he was releasing a book. Baking bread is something I have always wanted to be able to do, as my grandfather was a baker in a small town in Belgium called Wichelen. As my mother was his youngest child, he was well-retired by the time I was old enough to understand anything about it. I never got to see the bakery or the grocery store my grandparents had although I do hope to someday find a photo of it.
Anyway, back to Bake with Jack! I never learned how to bake bread from my grandfather but I did inherit an old recipe book of his. Before I wanted to attempt making his recipes, I felt like I needed to learn all the basics and techniques. And Bake with Jack – both the YouTube channel and the book – seemed like a great way to start. I had made soda and spelt bread before but they didn’t really involve much technique so I never really knew where to begin making a sandwich loaf.
The recipes in the book are easy to follow and feature photos showing how to do certain techniques which are very helpful. You can of course always go to his YT channel if you want to make sure you’re doing it right. I’ll be sharing photos of the recipes I tried on my Instagram page, something I’ll be doing with each book tip I share as well.
There are loads of different recipes in it, ranging from basic loafs to more advanced ones. I’m going to slowly work my way through it while trying out my grandfather’s recipes as well which I’m really looking forward to.
You can find all the information you need about the book below. Let me know in the comments if you’ve bought the book as well or if you’ve tried any of his recipes!
