Super Food Family Classics by Jamie Oliver
Jamie Oliver obviously needs no introduction on this blog, it’s no secret that this man helped me when I first started cooking and I still am a big fan of his recipes and cookbooks as well as his yearly ‘Food Revolution Day’ which I’m a big supporter of.
“Access to good, fresh, nutritious food is every child’s human right. It’s easy to agree with this, but the reality is an astounding 41 million children under the age of five are overweight or obese, while another 159 million kids are too short for their age. None of these children are growing healthily. Jamie is calling on us all to join a global Food Revolution in order to provoke debate and inspire real, meaningful, positive change in the way our children access, consume and understand food.
We want to shout about important food issues, encourage everyone to take part in impactful change and push governments to improve their food and nutrition policies. This is a space for us all – individuals, parents, policymakers, communities and businesses – to come together, make a noise, share our stories and debate the issues that can provide our children with access to good, fresh, nutritious food for generations to come. This is a global revolution – wherever you are, join us.“
I don’t have kids myself but I do believe that the key to having kids grow up into healthy & happy people is to teach them from a young age about good food and include them in your own cooking as much as possible, while keeping them away from sharp objects of course. With his new book ‘Super Food Family Classics’, he continues along the same path as his previous book ‘Everyday Super Food‘, but with a focus on family food. The book include both big family meals as well as recipes to help your kids eat their favourite snacks in a healthy way, like chicken nuggets and fish fingers, all homemade with no added unhealthy elements!
Jamie’s Super Food Family Classics continues with the popular philosophy behind Jamie’s Everyday Super Food, bringing exciting healthy eating to the heart of the home.
Freshen up your family favourites and expand your recipe repertoire with new nutritious, tasty meals – make your weekly menu something to shout about.
Sneak in extra veg with Squash Mac ‘N’ Cheese and enjoy a no-arguments family dinner with Chicken Fajitas, Smoky Dressed Aubergines & Peppers. When you need a no-fuss meal on the table fast try Chicken Goujons or Pasta Pesto, or get ahead with freezer-friendly Jumbo Fish Fingers or Proper Chicken Nuggets. Use ingredients you know the family already love in new, exciting ways, with Sweet Potato Fish Cakes or Chocolate Porridge.
Every recipe is tried and tested, has clear and easy-to-understand nutritional information on the page, including the number of veg and fruit portions in each dish, plus there’s a bumper back-section packed with valuable advice on everything from cooking with kids and tackling fussy eaters, to good gut health, the importance of fibre, budgeting and of course, getting more of the good stuff into your family’s diet.
If you’re looking for fresh ideas and an easy way to make healthy eating a part of everyday family life, Jamie’s Super Food Family Classics is the book for you.
